On Feb 5Th 2010, the Level VFC was alerted for an Engine transfer to Co.3 House 1(Bel Air VFC) while their crews were operating on a working building fire in the 333 box. Engine 112 W/ 5(Capt. Hawkins) called enroute right after alert due to level being fully staffed for the snow storm. While approaching Co. 3, Engine 112 was dispatched to the area of Harford Rd and Bel Air Rd in the 343 box area, for a building fire. Dispatch advised that the caller was passing by a auto dealership and there was smoke coming from the front of the building and the windows were turning black. Engine 112 was first to arrive and found the same. The crew stretched a 200' pre-connect to the front door. The crew made entry into the front of the building. Upon entry, crew found fire conditions inside the front room of the business. Engine 112s crew put a good knock on the fire. While opening up one firefighter from E112 fell through a large hole in the floor but was able to self extricate and removed himself outside to awaiting EMS. The firefighter was transported to Upper Chesapeake Medical Center for possible broken ribs. Remaining crews on scene conducted overhaul of the business to check for fire extension. Command then held Engine 112 and 1311 to await the arrival of the Maryland State Fire Marshal. The fire is still under investigation. A good job by all on scene.
